Assists Accounting Manager in preparing accounting and financial reports and ensuring accurate accounting systems and record keeping.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial Reports: Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position, using calculator or computer.
Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
Assists Accounting Manager with changes to chart of accounts.
Assists Accounting Manager with monthly and year-end closing of the general ledger including preparation of journal entries.
Assists Accounting Manager with preparing monthly bank reconciliation for all accounts; verifying accuracy of bank statements and resolving questions or problems; maintaining integrity of cash balances and cash flow systems.
Assists with maintaining fixed asset records and control; determines depreciation terms/rates to apply to capitalized items; prepares property tax returned for review by Controller.
Assist Accounting Manager with preparation of schedules and documents for independent auditors.
Maintains other accounts and performs other accounting duties as required or as requested by Accounting Manager.
Assist accounts payable and receivable staff in problem resolution.
Assists Accounting Manager with special projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of the time value of money.
Ability to solve practical problems.
